SEO Meta Tags for WordPress

Mar 21

There are many SEO Plug Ins that you can use on your WordPress Site.
Here are some examples for busy people.

“All in One SEO” is a great tool, as it adds Meta Tags to all your posts and Pages for you.
(A meta tag is a line of HTML code that contains data about your webpage. Meta tag information doesn’t change how the page looks; it won’t be seen by the site viewer, unless they are viewing your source code. There are two common types of meta tags — meta description tags and meta keywords tags)

The Meta Tag Description is what some Search Engines use some of the time as the description on the SERPs (Search Engine Results Page)
The meta tag keywords are suggestions to the SEARCH ENGINES as to what keywords you would like to be found for or used, when searchers type in to find your site.

Most of you know how easy it is to install plugins on your WordPress Site.
For those of you that do not know how, check out Lynda.com
or go to OnlineHelpServices.com and order a $5 installation.

After you have installed “All in One SEO” plugin, you will need to configure the plugin. (Don’t worry, it is most likely already set for your needs)

When you are configuring this Plugin you can create your ‘Front Page’ or ‘HOME PAGE’ Meta Tags and Keyword descriptions. This is done in the ‘Settings’ Area.

Now, “All in One SEO” will automatically create the Meta Tags for all your posts and pages, using the first few sentences of the article on the Post or page and the Meta Keywords Tags using the Posts or Pages Tags. See WordPress Meta Tags for more information .

Having the correct Tags in place is critical to your site’s success for SEO.(Search Engine Optimisation)

There are 2 Auto Tagging Plug Ins that you can use to generate these Tags, until you may wish to go to the more advanced level and start to do them yourself.

Strictly Auto Tags by Rob Reid ” is a plugin that scans an English language post for words that could be used as tags and then orders them so that the most relevant
words get added against the post. Just because a word appears in a post that is already in your list of tags does not mean that it should
automatically be added against the article.”

Auto Tags by Jonathan Foucher “This plugin uses the Yahoo.com and tagthe.net APIs to find the most relevant keywords from the content of your post, and then adds them as tags.
New for version 0.2: an options page allows to choose how many tags are retrieved from each service. The tag adding is fully automatic”
